The Accounting Clerk provides essential accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and administrative accounting support for Ethic Tech’s federal contracting operations. This position requires experience working within a government contracting environment and a solid understanding of DCAA-compliant accounting practices. The Accounting Clerk ensures accurate financial data entry, supports month-end processes, prepares reports, and maintains audit-ready documentation.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who is organized, analytical, and able to support a wide range of accounting functions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable (AR) & Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process customer invoices and billing in accordance with contract terms, funding, and DCAA-compliant standards.
- Review and process vendor invoices, verify proper coding, ensure compliance with cost principles, and support timely payment cycles.
- Monitor aging reports, track payments, and assist with collections as needed.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and documentation review.
Federal Contractor Accounting Support
- Maintain detailed and audit-ready records that comply with DCAA, FAR, and CAS requirements.
- Support timekeeping validations, labor distribution reviews, and other compliance-driven processes as needed.
- Assist with internal or external audits by preparing documentation, reports, and system extracts.
- Ensure accounting procedures and documentation align with federal contract standards and organizational policies.
Administrative & General Accounting Functions
- Perform accurate data entry and maintain up-to-date records in accounting, payroll, and CRM systems.
- Prepare and manage Excel spreadsheets, financial logs, tracking tools, and status reports.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Business Development, Program Management, and Operations to support accurate labor, cost, and project accounting.
- Provide reporting, presentations, and administrative support to management.
- Contribute ideas and process improvement recommendations to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- At least 3 years of experience working in accounting for a federal contractor (GovCon environment).
- Working knowledge of DCAA requirements, FAR Part 31 cost principles, and general compliance standards.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPs, charts).
- Excellent data entry accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GovConPay payroll/accounting system.
- Familiarity with Unanet, Deltek, or similar GovCon accounting tools.
- Experience supporting audit requests or maintaining compliance documentation.
