What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content & Creative Lead position at Escargot?
Escargot · NYC · full-time · founding team · $100,000 – $150,000 meaningful equity and benefits
You make the content. You own the craft.
About Escargot
Escargot started with greeting cards — but cards are the wedge. We're building a new kind of digital-to-physical social network: one that helps people keep track of the relationships that matter, act on the moments they usually miss, and turn those moments into physical things — cards, gifts, keepsakes, the little objects that prove a life happened.
Social media became performance. Texting became the default for everything. But the things people actually save — a card on the fridge, a note in a drawer, a ticket stub — still carry disproportionate meaning. That's the space we're building in: the bridge between digital convenience and physical meaning.
We've raised $3M from South Park Commons and Hannah Grey, 100,000 people use Escargot, we have a 4.6 App Store rating, and people are already framing our cards on their walls. We're a small NYC team founded by Aaron Albert (CEO) and Andrew Gold (CTO). Now we need to make Escargot feel much bigger in the world.
Why this role exists
We need one person who can come up with the ideas — and make them.
This is not a content calendar role. Not a brand strategist role. Not someone who lives in decks.
We’re looking for someone who can look at any channel, invent the creative idea, and then actually create it — shoot, edit, design, and get it out into the world.
You’ll own what people see.
What you’ll do
- Own the creative concept behind everything Escargot makes
- Create content end-to-end (concept, shoot, edit, design)
- Produce short-form video content across platforms
- Develop repeatable content formats and creative systems
- Direct creators and ensure output meets your standard
- Set and maintain the quality bar for everything we publish
- Work closely with the founder on voice, tone, and taste
- Create fast, iterate quickly, and learn from what works
What we’re looking for
- Strong portfolio of actual work (required)
- Ability to concept AND execute content yourself
- Deep understanding of short-form video (TikTok, Reels, etc.)
- Strong creative instincts and taste
- Experience creating content for consumer brands or platforms
- Comfortable moving fast and creating volume
You’ll do well here if
- You are both the idea person and the maker
- You can concept, shoot, edit, and design yourself
- You understand what makes content feel native vs like an ad
- You’d rather make 10 things and learn than perfect 1
- You can tell when something isn’t working—and fix it
You won’t enjoy this role if
- You need a full brief, team, or production setup to create
- Your work is mostly decks or strategy—not actual output
- You prioritize polish over speed and learning
- You’re uncomfortable with a blank page
The role
- Full-time, on-site in NYC
- Founding team hire
- High autonomy, low structure
- Reports directly to the founder
- $100K–$150K base meaningful equity and benefits
How to apply
Apply here and include a portfolio or examples of work you’ve actually made.
We care about the work—not the deck about the work.
We’re making thoughtfulness feel current, social, and worth talking about. This is the role that makes it look like something.
