What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prekindergarten Associate (through DSS) position at ESC of Lake Erie West?
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Early Childhood Coordinators and the site-based Early Childhood Intervention Specialist, the Prekindergarten Associate will deliver the prescribed general education curriculum to children in the classroom through direct instruction and co-instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university required
- Ohio State Board of Education License for Prekindergarten Associate required
- Previous experience working with children aged 3-5 in an inclusive program preferred
- Deliver the general education curriculum (e.g., play, small group projects, open-ended questioning, group discussion, problem-solving, cooperative learning, and inquiry experience) and learning across contexts (indoor, outdoor, home-based).
- Assist the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of individual students
- Assist the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist in the implementation of the social-emotional curriculum, practices, and procedures.
- Assist the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist with documentation requirements, including assessing student growth and collecting data to monitor student progress
- Help maintain accurate and complete student records; help prepare and submit required reports on time
- Assist Early Childhood Intervention Specialist and students with tasks related to daily activities (e.g., toileting, snack, handwashing, and helping load and unload buses
- Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with maintenance of the classroom as directed by the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist or Early Childhood Coordinator(s)
- Maintain a safe classroom environment; report any safety concerns to Early Childhood Coordinators
