Low Voltage Data Center Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking Data Center Technicians with early-stage experience in structured cabling and data center environments for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational field experience who are ready to expand their technical skills and take on additional responsibilities through continued mentorship and hands-on project work. Technicians will support the installation, maintenance, and organization of structured cabling systems, infrastructure hardware, and data center equipment for projects within the telecom and low voltage industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Install structured cabling systems, including fiber and copper cable rough-in, routing, and cable dressing

• Terminate and test fiber and copper cabling with moderate supervision

• Rack and stack network equipment, including server builds and rack elevation support

• Install infrastructure components such as ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and related hardware

• Read and follow blueprints, installation standards, and project documentation

• Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installations into data center environments

• Receive materials and assemble hardware components as needed

• Maintain compliance with safety procedures and ensure clean, organized job sites

• Communicate professionally with team members, project leads, and supervisors

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required

• 1-2 years of experience in a data center or commercial structured cabling environment

• Familiarity with fiber and copper cable types, termination methods, and basic testing equipment

• OSHA 10 certification preferred

• Must be open to travel for project assignments as needed

• Must be available to work extended schedules, including 12-hour shifts and up to 7 days per week based on project demands

• Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and move items up to 75 lbs.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift

• Must provide and maintain basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel or composite toe work boots
