JOB SUMMARY: The Summer Camp Lead will direct onsite activities for MetroLagoons’ brand-new summer camps. The Lead will help develop and execute day-to-day programming, oversee staff, interact with parents and guardians, and ensure overall safety while delivering fun and memorable participant experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of camp curriculum, leveraging resources and experience to produce a compelling programming mix that keeps groups of up to 30 campers per week continually engaged.
- Handle all onsite administrative duties, such as check-in, supply management, parent correspondence, snack/lunch breaks, and pickup.
- Supervise and support camp counselors, ensuring all execute their assigned duties in accordance with camp and company standards.
- Foster a welcoming and high-energy camp culture that prioritizes fun and positive experiences.
- Maintain a smooth and organized camp flow, coordinating movement from one activity to the next.
- Handle camper disciplinary matters as may arise from time to time.
- Align with onsite staff to ensure that the camp operates smoothly within the confines of regular lagoon operations.
- Maintain a safe environment by enforcing policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Correspond with the corporate office on matters such as roster management, guest feedback, and daily/weekly camp summaries.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Previous camp leadership experience, or equivalent experience working with and developing programming for youth as acquired through a school, parks & recreation department, afterschool program (i.e., YMCA, Boys & Girls Club), and/or athletic organization.
- Experience managing others with ability to hold staff accountable.
- Ability to follow assigned protocols, procedures, and curriculum while also adapting to real-time needs to improve camp operations and participant experiences.
- Friendly, outgoing, energetic personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
- Utmost punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to work with a wide range of ages, including campers, adult staff, and lagoon leadership.
- CPR/1st Aid Training. (Can provide.)
- Ability to work outdoors in summer weather conditions.
- Comfort with and around water preferred.
Seasonal Role Details:
- MUST be able to work all of the following camp weeks: June 1-5, June 22-26, July 13-17, and July 27-31. (Camp runs from 9am – 1pm daily, with pre- and post-duties involved.)
- Must be able to onboard and train during agreed-upon dates (3-4 days) in May and attend and co-lead a camp counselor orientation.
