Episcopal Homes of Minnesota has proudly served seniors for 130 years in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood. Our vibrant campus offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Hospice services. Residents enjoy access to amenities including a fitness center, pool, pub, theater, and gourmet dining.
We are currently hiring a Lifeguard to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive pool environment for our residents and community members. This role plays an important part in ensuring swimmer safety, preventing injuries, and creating a positive aquatic experience for everyone who uses our pool.
Wage: $17.00–$19.00/hr.
Schedule: Summer Seasonal Part-Time Position: June 8 – August 9 | 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 2–3 days per week (employee-selected) | 0.3–0.4 FTE
- Supervise swimming activities and ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed
- Monitor the pool, pool deck, and locker rooms to maintain a clean and secure environment
- Enforce pool rules and address unsafe behavior or potential hazards
- Respond quickly to emergencies; provide first aid and perform rescues, CPR, and/or artificial respiration as needed
- Inspect the pool area regularly for safety and cleanliness
- Communicate swimmer concerns or incidents to the Wellness Coordinator
- Serve as a warm, friendly, and professional presence for residents and community guests
- Current Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized organization (American Red Cross, YMCA, etc.)
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification with adult-specific training
- Ability to monitor the safety and wellbeing of senior swimmers, including those in low-impact or therapeutic aquatic programs
- Knowledge of emergency protocols and strong independent decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, respectful demeanor
- Dependable, punctual, and flexible
- Physical ability to swim, lift, and assist with rescues as needed
