What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at City of Northfield?
The lifeguard works under the direct supervision of the Ice Arena & Pool Supervisor, Pool Manager and/or Recreation Operator. Lifeguards ensure a safe swim environment to bathers by enforcing facility rules/regulations and perform necessary actions needed to assure all patrons safety.
Previous life guarding experience.Position will require flexibility in future scheduling to include all hours at the employers’ discretion for appropriate coverage and efficiency. Must work overtime as assigned; may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, including holidays for special event coverage, and emergency situations. Timely reporting to work with a minimum of absences. Ineligible for hybrid telecommuting work.
- Provides excellent customer service to all members of our community, inclusive of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, ages, national or ethnic origins, languages, citizenship status, socioeconomic status, and political affiliations.
- Responsible for operating safety equipment, administering first aid as required and rescuing and resuscitating patrons.
- Aids as directed by the pool manager in cleaning and janitorial duties at the facility, and may be assigned other similar or related duties as needed.
- Effectively fulfill the responsibilities related to maintaining a safe environment and enforcing rules.
- Must consistently act in a manner, which earns and merits the respect and confidence of patrons.
- Assure successful operation of the pool in accordance with the City of Northfield’s vision and mission statements, being consistent and polite and enforcing rules, treating patrons with courtesy and respect in all manners, and abiding by applicable regulations concerning behavior of self.
- Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with city personnel and the general public; maintains professional demeanor, tone, and conversations in all public areas of the city.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.Must be 16 years of age. Current Certification in American Red Cross LGT, CPR-Pro-Rescue, First-Aid. Ability to work early June to the end of August.
