What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Library Shelver position at City of Northfield?
This position provides clerical support to the Library by accurately returning Library materials-books, periodicals, newspapers, DVDs, etc. to their assigned location.
- Provides excellent customer service to all members of our community, inclusive of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, ages, national or ethnic origins, languages, citizenship status, socioeconomic status, and political affiliations.
- Shelves books as they come into the Library using the Dewey Decimal Numbering System and other location indicators to accurately place books on the shelf.
- Shelf reads all areas of the Library to make sure books are in proper order.
- Files magazines and newspapers.
- Maintains the Library facility in a neat and orderly manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with city personnel and the general public; maintains professional demeanor, tone, and conversations in all public areas of the city.
- Assists other Library staff as needed.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
