Job Summary The Library Assistant ensures library operations are efficient and sets priorities based on the overall function of the library. Performs work as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the online library system
- Checks books and other library materials in and out.
- Promotes a positive learning environment.
- Assists students with library resources.
- Performs general library tasks such as cleaning, straightening, making copies, prepping library materials.
- Operates and cares for equipment.
- Shelves books.
- Supervise students inside the library.
- Process new books for circulation and repairs books as needed.
- Creates library displays and promotional materials.
- Assists with library events.
- Assists with activities as directed by the Teacher.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Works collaboratively with all staff.
- Participates in training as requested.
- Assist students with entering lunch numbers (building specific).
- Provide friendly, supportive interactions with students during the lunch process.
- Support the efficiency of the school’s food service program.
- Assist with bus/recess duty(building specific).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:
- Work primarily in a school environment.
- Involves interaction with students.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and Carrying:This may involve lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the classroom and school premises, including walking, bending, and kneeling, to provide support to students in various settings.
- Standing and Sitting: Capacity to stand for extended periods during activities, as well as the ability to sit on the floor or low chairs to engage with students at their level.
- Manual Dexterity: Skill in using hands for tasks such as assisting with writing, operating educational tools, or handling classroom materials.
- Calmness in Crisis Situations: Ability to intervene if necessary to ensure student safety, while maintaining composure in potentially stressful situations.
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
