The company is seeking a Service Manager to oversee day-to-day service operations, lead a team of field and office personnel, and help drive the continued growth of an established service department.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with executive leadership while overseeing technicians, customer relationships, service projects, and operational performance. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical HVAC expertise, leadership experience, and a customer-focused approach to service management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the service department, ensuring efficient scheduling, technician utilization, and customer responsiveness
- Oversee service technicians, service administration staff, and support personnel while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while addressing service concerns and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction
- Walk projects with customers, evaluate scope, and assist in developing estimates and service proposals
- Collaborate with business development and service sales teams to identify opportunities for service growth and project work
- Monitor department budgets, labor utilization, profitability, and operational performance metrics
- Coordinate material procurement, equipment allocation, and resource planning for service projects
- Conduct team meetings, training sessions, performance reviews, and ongoing employee development initiatives
- Support after-hours escalations and emergency service coordination when required
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety programs, licensing requirements, and industry standards
- Participate in quality control efforts and continuously improve service delivery processes
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience within the commercial HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, or mechanical service industry
- Prior experience leading technicians, dispatch operations, service teams, or field personnel
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, VRF systems, rooftop units, and related mechanical equipment
- Ability to evaluate customer needs, develop solutions, and prepare estimates for service and repair work
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and customer service skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and perform in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting workloads, and driving operational efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Massachusetts Journeyman Plumbing License
- Massachusetts Journeyman Pipefitter License
- Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License
- Experience managing commercial service contracts, maintenance agreements, and small project work
Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
