Position Overview
We are seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to join a custom systems integration team supporting industrial automation projects across a variety of manufacturing environments.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on complete automation solutions—from controls design and programming through startup, commissioning, and customer training. Engineers in this position are involved throughout the full project lifecycle and have exposure to PLCs, HMIs, machine vision, motion control, and advanced automation technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement industrial automation and controls solutions
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems
- Develop and integrate machine vision applications
- Support motion control systems and automated manufacturing equipment
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Assist with equipment startups, commissioning, and customer installations
- Provide technical training and support to end users
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver customer solutions
- Assist with project estimating and technical scope development
- Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues during implementation and startup activities
Qualifications
(Required)
- 5 years of controls engineering, automation, or systems integration experience
- Hands-on PLC programming experience (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley strongly preferred)
- Experience developing HMI applications
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel approximately 10-15% for customer support and project commissioning

- Experience with machine vision systems (Cognex preferred)
- Motion control experience
- AutoCAD Electrical experience
- Robotics programming experience
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and machine safety standards
- Experience working in a custom machine build, OEM, or systems integration environment

Salary : $95,000 - $125,000
