We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our team at our Flint Head Office.
Job Summary
The Safety Manager will work towards improving the workplace safety policies and procedures while maintaining safe and productive work environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Providing safety-related information such as training programs and emergency procedures
- Maintain safety records, reports and documents required by regulatory agencies
- Conducting risk assessments to minimize workplace accident and injuries
- Oversee and ensure compliance with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections for all trucks
- Recording, documenting and reviewing accidents, injuries and incidents
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA requirements)
- Work closely with technical staff and operational teams to understand sites- specific processes and safety needs
- Conducting worksite audits
- Manage workers' compensation cases and assist with return-to work program
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment and ensure proper usage
- Previous experience in Health and safety
- Extensive knowledge of DOT compliance/safety
- Bachelor of science in Environmental Health and Safety
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to travel among worksites to conduct safety meetings and inspections
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of OSHA and regulatory requirements
- Experience working in a unionized work environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple sites and meet deadlines
