The Role
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Materials Cycle Supervisor to lead our efforts in inventory accuracy, cycle count execution, and material flow optimization. This role is responsible for supervising Material Coordinators, managing cycle schedules, resolving inventory discrepancies, and supporting launch and changeover activities. The ideal candidate is an innovative, data-driven leader with a passion for operational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.
What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead and supervise Material Coordinators in executing the cycle count schedule. Conduct performance reviews and administer disciplinary actions as needed. Support team development and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Cycle Count Management: Ensure cycle count schedules are current, accurate, and fully compliant. Oversee timely completion of required recounts. Integrate new level parts into the cycle count schedule.
- Inventory Accuracy & Reconciliation: Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies identified through receiving and cycle count activities. Validate inventory records following engineering changes affecting part numbers or levels. Assign and monitor counts for hot parts flagged by customers or inventory systems.
- Inventory Change & Launch Support: Support inventory transitions, including run-out of obsolete materials and validation of incoming inventory records. Assist with balance-out and launch activities for model year changes and coordinated updates.
- Continuous Improvement & Special Projects: Execute special assignments from the Materials Manager, including cost-saving initiatives, layout improvements, and inventory control enhancements. Participate in facility-wide special projects and improvement efforts.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to QS-9000/TS16949 standards and company policies. Maintain accurate documentation of all inventory-related activities. Support emergency evacuation procedures and uphold safety standards.
- Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate and coordinate with customers regarding inventory issues, including obsolescence claims. Assist in determining appropriate material rack storage to meet production and customer requirements.
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business, supply chain, or manufacturing-related discipline is required.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment; automotive supplier experience strongly preferred.
- Background in traffic and logistics operations.
- Proficient in computer systems; experience with Trans4M or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Familiarity with GM’s ISP/JIT systems is highly desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform standard office and plant-based duties, including a typical amount of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the facility.
- Must be able to perform standard computer-based tasks for extended periods.
- Occasional travel up to 5% required
- Valid driver’s license required
