What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Operations position at Emerald Resource Group?
Vice President Operations / Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Manufacturing & Consumer Products Company
Onsite – Akron Ohio / Northeast Ohio
Strong preference for local or regionally based candidates
The Vice President Operations / Chief Operating Officer (COO)
This is a hands-on COO role for someone who wants to build, not inherit. The company is profitable and growing. The leadership team is highly growth-focused and is looking for an operational partner to run the business day-to-day while future expansion accelerates.
This role is about creating structure, scale, and repeatability across operations. You’ll put the systems in place that allow the business to grow faster, cleaner, and more predictably.
Why the Vice President Operations / Chief Operating Officer (COO) Stands Out
- True ownership of operations, not a caretaker position
- Direct partnership with the CEO and ownership group
- Equity participation tied to long-term growth
- Opportunity to help scale organically and through acquisitions
- Stable capital backing with a long-term horizon
What You’ll Focus on Early
- Taking full responsibility for operational excellence and execution
- Building scalable processes across supply chain, inventory, and fulfillment
- Leading ERP selection and implementation
- Establishing clear operating rhythms, metrics, and accountability
- Turning tribal knowledge into documented, repeatable systems
This is a roll-up-your-sleeves environment. Some work is unglamorous, but that’s where real leverage is created.
As the Business Scales
- Prepare operations to support significant growth
- Build a repeatable operating model
- Support and integrate future acquisitions
- Serve as the operational counterweight to a sales-driven CEO
Who This Fits Best
- You’ve operated in fast-moving, execution-heavy environments
- You enjoy building systems and teams from scratch
- You’re comfortable with accountability and ownership
- You want long-term upside, not just a title
- You prefer being onsite and close to the operation
This role could suit a high-potential operations leader stepping into their first COO role, or a seasoned operator who still enjoys building.
Location & Commitment
- Onsite role in Akron / Northeast Ohio Strong preference for local or regionally based candidates
- Highly hands-on, embedded leadership position
Salary : $160,000 - $190,000
