Senior SAP eWM Lead

SAP eWM Lead, End User, North Carolina. My client a global end user of SAP are looking for a SAP eWM Lead to join their team, ideally they are looking for candidates to have a strong SAP eWM hands on background with experience of integration with SAP Manufacturing (SAP PP, SAP MM). PLEASE NOTE - this role is 5 days a week onsite and doesn't offer any form of sponsorship.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP EWM Consultant to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP Extended Warehouse Management solutions, with a particular emphasis on integration with SAP Manufacturing processes (PP, PP-PI, and MES systems).

This role requires deep expertise in end-to-end supply chain execution, including warehouse operations tightly coupled with production, ensuring seamless material flow from inbound logistics through manufacturing and outbound distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

SAP EWM Solution Design & Delivery

• Lead the design and configuration of SAP EWM solutions, including:
• Inbound, outbound, and internal warehouse processes
• Putaway, picking, packing, and staging
• Yard management and labor management (if applicable)
• Drive full lifecycle implementations (Explore, Realize, Deploy phases)
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications and system design

Manufacturing Integration (Core Focus)

• Design and implement integration between SAP EWM and Manufacturing modules:
• SAP PP (Production Planning)
• SAP PP-PI (Process Industries)
• SAP MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
• Configure and optimize:
• Production staging (PMR, staging for production)
• Kanban replenishment processes
• Material consumption and backflushing
• Handling Unit (HU) management in production supply
• Integrate EWM with:
• Production orders and process orders
• Advanced Production Integration (API)
• MRP-driven supply to production
• Support manufacturing warehouse scenarios:
• Line-side supply
• Just-in-Time (JIT) / Just-in-Sequence (JIS)
• Repetitive manufacturing integration

System Integration & Architecture

• Ensure seamless integration between SAP EWM and:
• SAP S/4HANA (embedded or decentralized EWM)
• SAP MM (Materials Management)
• SAP SD (Sales & Distribution)
• SAP QM (Quality Management)
• External MES and automation systems (e.g., conveyors, ASRS)
• Work with middleware (e.g., SAP CPI, PI/PO) for system interfaces
• Define and manage IDoc, qRFC, and API-based integrations

Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor junior consultants and functional analysts
• Provide technical leadership across SAP EWM and manufacturing integration topics
• Support governance, standards, and best practices

Testing & Support

• Lead integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Support go-live planning and hypercare activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and warehouse integration issues

Required Skills & Experience:

Core SAP Expertise

• 8 years of SAP experience with at least:
• 5 years in SAP EWM (decentralized and/or embedded)
• Strong hands-on configuration experience in:
• Warehouse structure (storage types, bins)
• Process-oriented storage control (POSC)
• Layout-oriented storage control (LOSC)
• RF framework and mobile solutions

Manufacturing Integration Expertise

• Proven experience integrating SAP EWM with:
• SAP PP / PP-PI
• Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
• Strong knowledge of:
• Production supply processes
• Staging methods (Pick Parts, Crate Parts, Release Order Parts)
• Advanced Production Integration (API)
• Kanban and JIT/JIS processes
• Experience in discrete and/or process manufacturing industries

Technical & Integration Skills

• Understanding of:
• IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, qRFC
• CIF integration (Core Interface)
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA (preferred)
• Exposure to automation integration (PLC, MFS) is a plus
• Familiarity with SAP Fiori and UI5 applications
