Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Work independently on complex transportation engineering tasks, applying your knowledge and reviewing the work of others for quality assurance. You may also mentor colleagues and provide feedback to management.
- Collaboration: Assist senior engineers with transportation planning and marketing efforts to attract new clients. Coordinate with other teams and departments as needed.
- Project Work: Engage with project teams on transportation assignments, executing technical tasks under the supervision of a Project Manager. Responsibilities include preparing maps, conducting data analysis, field reviews, and developing engineering plans and reports.
- Grant Applications: Lead the preparation of grant applications and participate in construction-related tasks.
- Documentation: Draft various communications, including memos, meeting minutes, proposals, and reports. Ensure accurate project documentation and maintain organized project files.
- Quality Control: Monitor project progress for accuracy and adherence to schedules and budgets. Conduct technical presentations and assist in quality control of projects.
- Mentorship: Support and mentor junior staff members in their professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Preferred coursework in transportation engineering or highway design.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in transportation engineering.
- EIT registration required; PE registration preferred within six months.
- Experience in preparing construction plans for roadway or traffic projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
- Knowledge of DOT standards and construction practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Strong communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
