A well-established and highly respected Southern California civil contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support and lead the preparation of detailed, competitive cost estimates for complex wet utility and pipeline infrastructure projects. This role plays a critical part in preconstruction strategy, cost analysis, and bid execution, working closely with leadership, project teams, and external stakeholders throughout the full estimating lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for water, sewer, storm drain, reclaimed water, and fire line projects, capturing all labor, equipment, materials, subcontracted work, and indirect costs
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using digital estimating platforms and analyze RFQs, drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports
- Attend pre-bid meetings and jobsite walks, capturing scope clarifications and risk considerations
- Clearly articulate estimate assumptions, production rates, and cost drivers to internal teams and leadership
- Coordinate with project managers, field teams, and vendors to validate constructability, sequencing, and pricing
- Support awarded projects with change orders, budget validation, cost forecasting, and constructability reviews
- Assist with bid strategy, scope leveling, and final bid submissions
- Mentor and support junior estimators and estimating staff as needed
- Provide interim oversight within the estimating function when required
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in estimating and/or project management within wet utilities or heavy civil construction
- Strong working knowledge of civil drawings, Water District standards, soils reports, and project specifications
- Proven experience performing digital takeoffs using tools such as Planswift, OST, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present estimates clearly and confidently
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred, not required)

Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
