This role is ideal for a detail-driven estimating professional with deep experience in sewer, water, storm drain, and fire line projects who thrives in a collaborative, people-first culture. As the right hand to the Chief Estimator, you will play a key role in shaping bid strategy, mentoring the estimating team, and supporting high-impact civil construction projects across the region. What’s In It for YouBase salary $120K–$165K  ~15% annual bonusOpportunity to step in and lead the department when the Chief Estimator is unavailableDirect mentorship and growth pathway into higher-level preconstruction leadershipJoin a Top Workplace organization known for humility, teamwork, and long-term employee investmentWork in a stable, family-oriented culture where leadership values fairness, openness, and collaboration What You’ll DoLead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for wet-utility and civil pipeline projectsDevelop complete takeoffs, quantity measurements, and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipmentAttend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and RFQ discussions; gather and document all required technical informationOwn estimate assumptions, pricing logic, and risk evaluation for each pursuitCollaborate with project managers and construction teams on planning, constructability, and bid executionReview, coordinate, and submit competitive bid packagesProvide mentorship and training to junior estimators and support staffStep in to support or temporarily oversee estimating operations as neededPartner cross-functionally with internal teams while maintaining strong client and vendor relationships What You Bring10 years of estimating or project management experience within wet utilities or heavy civil constructionStrong ability to interpret civil drawings, water district standards, soils reports, and technical specificationsAdvanced proficiency in on-screen takeoff tools (Planswift, OST, Bluebeam) and estimating platforms (HCSS, HeavyBid, Sage/Timberline)Excellent communication skills and the ability to present estimate findings to leadership and project teamsA humble, team-oriented demeanor aligned with a family-driven, union-supported workplaceLeadership qualities that reflect fairness, mentorship, and a collaborative approach—not intimidation Why This Role MattersThis Senior Estimator will directly influence bid competitiveness, project strategy, and long-term pipeline growth.
