Job Summary
The Assistant Wrestling Coach supports the Head Wrestling Coach in all aspects of the wrestling program, including instruction, supervision, and development of student-athletes. This position is responsible for helping build a competitive program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and student growth while aligning with the district's mission of Experience Excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist in planning and conducting practices that develop fundamental wrestling skills, techniques, and conditioning.
- Instruct student-athletes on rules, strategies, terminology, and proper techniques of wrestling.
- Support the implementation of program goals established by the Head Coach.
- Supervise student-athletes during practice, matches, travel, and related activities.
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect among student-athletes.
- Ensure compliance with all TSSAA rules, school policies, and district expectations.
- Assist with match preparation, including lineup decision and in-match coaching support.
- Emphasize safety and proper injury prevention and management techniques.
- Help coordinate schedules, facility usage, and transportation needs in collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and uniforms.
- Model professionalism and ethical behavior at all times, representing the school positively.
- Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents, and school personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Wrestling Coach, Athletic Director, or administration.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous wrestling experience (participation and/or coaching) preferred
- Knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and training methods
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff and school personnel
- Must complete all required coaching certifications and trainings as required by TSSAA and district
- Must meet all health requirements and pass background check
