Job Summary
The Assistant Softball Coach supports the Head Softball Coach in the development and implementation of a competitive and well-rounded softball program. This position assists with coaching, instruction, and supervision of student-athletes while promoting a positive team culture aligned with the district's mission of "Experience Excellence." The Assistant Coach helps foster student-athlete growth, sportsmanship, and academic success while ensuring compliance with all district and TSSAA regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist the Head Softball Coach in organizing and implementing all aspects of the softball program.
- Support the development of program goals and contribute to achieving competitive success.
- Assist in instructing student-athletes in fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies of softball.
- Help plan and conduct effective practices and drills.
- Provide individual and group instruction to enhance player development.
- Encourage academic achievement and monitor student-athlete eligibility.
- Build positive relationships with student-athletes and serve as a role model.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship.
- Understand and follow all TSSAA rules, regulations, and district policies.
- Model and reinforce ethical behavior and good sportsmanship.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records, including attendance and eligibility documentation.
- Assist with scheduling, practice coordination, and facility setup.
- Help manage equipment, uniforms, and inventory.
- Support game-day operations, including supervision of athletes and preparation of facilities.
- Assist with transportation coordination as directed.
- Maintain open communication with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, players, and parents.
- Support team and program communication efforts.
- Work cooperatively with other school staff and athletic programs.
- Attend games, practices, meetings, and professional development as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or administration.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous playing and/or coaching experience in softball or a related sport preferred.
- Knowledge of softball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, staff, and community.
- Commitment to promoting academic success and positive character development.
- Must meet all district employment requirements, including background check and fingerprinting.
