Position Title: Head Track and Field Coach
Location: Elizabethton High School
Qualifications: College Degree with an up-to-date Tennessee license that is acceptable for an opening at Elizabethton High School is preferred.
If not certified, experience as an assistant or head coach at the high school or college-level preferred. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures the members of the team understand the rules, regulations, use of equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities and exercises.
- Assesses athlete's skills, monitors students during competition and practice, and keeps other coaches informed of the athletic performance of students.
- Supervises athletes during practices and competition.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
- Models' good sportsmanship, acceptable behavior, and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators.
- Maintains the equipment room and keeps items in an orderly condition. Assumes responsibility for its security.
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students/athletes.
- Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
- Performs tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
- Models' nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Will complete other duties as assigned.
Capacity and Ability Requirements:
This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. or the weight of an average child, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling; climbing; stooping and/or kneeling; reaching; talking; hearing; seeing.
