Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and professional Legal Assistant to support a law firm in New York City. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys client interaction while also playing a key role in litigation support and office operations.
This position is a hybrid of front desk and legal administrative responsibilities:
- Legal/Admin: Support attorneys with litigation case tracking, court filings, and overall administrative coordination.
- Reception: Serve as the first point of contact for clients and visitors, manage calls, and maintain a professional front office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Answer and manage multi-line phone systems, directing calls appropriately
- Handle incoming/outgoing mail and maintain front lobby organization
- Open, close, and maintain electronic and physical case files
- Track litigation matters and assist attorneys with case organization
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings
- Coordinate conference rooms and internal scheduling needs
- File legal documents in state and federal courts, including e-filing
- Serve as a liaison between clients, witnesses, and attorneys
- Maintain clear, professional communication across all interactions
Qualifications
- 1β3 years of experience in a law firm preferred
- Familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with case management systems (e.g., Clio, TimeMatters) preferred
