Government Strategies & Controversies Practice Team Assistant Job Description Summary:
The GS&C Practice Team Assistant will oversee non-legal operational and administrative functions of the GS&C department to support attorney efficiency, profitability, and compliance in a dynamic legal and political environment.
We are currently looking for a Practice Team Assistant to support the Government Strategies & Controversies practice group.
The primary responsibilities of the Practice Team Assistant cover three main areas as outlined below. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The Practice Team Assistant reports to the Director of HR & Recruiting and works under the supervision of attorneys.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Business Development and Strategic Planning:
1. Collaborate with partners on annual business development plans and align with firm administration goals.
2. Implement best practices for collective review and coordination of GS&C business development activities.
3. Coordinate with the firm marketing team to support GS&C initiatives.
4. Attend and participate in business pitches and follow-ups.
Client Service Operations:
1. Manage client intake system in collaboration with the department chair.
2. Coordinate and arrange client retainers, new matters memos, and conflicts.
3. Create and handle alternative fee arrangements by coordinating with attorneys, clients, and accounting on standardized invoices.
4. Obtain GC and Finance Department approval for new retentions.
5. Work with firm GC to ensure compliance with lobbying rules and regulations for non-US clients.
Human Resources and Staff Management:
1. Coordinate with firm HR on recruiting efforts for approved positions.
2. Maintain the GS&C non-legal calendar, including pitches, government meetings and follow-ups, monthly business development meetings, and social activities.
3. Develop and schedule quarterly practice development exercises.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong preference for proficiency in Korean (written and spoken) to support international client
needs.
• Must have 3 years’ experience in law firm paralegal or senior executive assistant role.
• Recent experience in government relations, lobbying, or related political arenas.
