Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced data professional to help us redefine all aspects of our relationship with data. As we undergo structural changes, the Data Architect will orchestrate the design and development of a robust data environment with the goal of growing business insights to the next level, while adapting to the complex needs of a company in hyper-growth.

As a Data Architect at Effy Jewelry, you will manage the newly created data department, working directly with data engineers to own pipelines and build solid end-to-end foundations for data collection, storage, consumption, and analysis.

This role is a full-time, onsite position based at our NYC Headquarters. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite five days per week.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Be at the forefront of implementing the modernization of tools in a legacy company undergoing hypergrowth in the travel luxury retail goods space.
• Establish, design, and lead the development of brand-new data warehousing infrastructure to consolidate siloed data sources and unlock new avenues for success.
• Become the primary stakeholder in data governance, data security, and data integrity strategies across multiple sales channels.
• Leverage expertise to strategize the approach on technical needs, SOPs, and best practices when it comes to the way we generate, store, and utilize data in a highly unique retail environment.

Essential duties for the role include:

• Modernize our data architecture by facilitating the integration of a new suite of financial, planning, and accounting software.
• Directly manage and mentor data engineers, working closely with analytics and operations teams to align needs.
• Play a crucial role in the company-wide system integration of a new ERP system including ownership of data migration, clean-up projects, and data warehouse creation.
• Implement data governance frameworks, leading initiatives through effective communication with cross functional departments and stakeholders.
• Foster a collaborative environment within the emerging data team, facilitating continuous growth, learning, and ownership.

Requirements:

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience in data architecture, data science, data engineering, or equivalent.
• A deep understanding of relational databases, both on-premises and cloud architecture, data security best practices, and principles of building scalable solutions.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipeline development and deployment, data warehousing, and data migration.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and Python, or equivalent query and scripting languages.
• Excellent communication skills, highly analytical, and strong problem-solving skills are a must.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills:

• Cruise line or Travel Retail experience.
• Corporate retail expertise, Jewelry industry experience is a plus.
• Experience in data modeling, machine learning, and AI.
• Familiarity with processes related to finance, retail planning, operations, logistics, and inventory management.
• Analytical background with an understanding of BI applications (Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
