Job Summary
The Beauty Training Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering world-class training across the Beauty, Cosmetics, Fragrance, and Handbag categories for our cruise retail operations. Reporting to the Director of Talent Development, this role ensures shipboard specialists are equipped with the product knowledge, technical skills, and guest engagement expertise to drive performance and revenue onboard.
This role is based in our headquarters in New York City and requires a 5 day full-time onsite presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Live Training Calls: Facilitate scheduled virtual training modules across Beauty, Fragrance, and Skincare, ensuring trainees meet preparation and participation standards.
- Develop & Maintain Training Content: Create, update, and refine live call outlines, video assignment briefs, filming instructions, and product knowledge materials for all Beauty categories.
- Manage Video Submissions & Coaching: Review trainee video assignments, provide actionable feedback, and determine pass/refilm decisions to uphold quality and readiness standards.
- Own Beauty LMS Operations: Maintain all Beauty, Fragrance, Skincare, and Handbag coursework on our digital online learning management system, ensuring modules are current, trackable, and completion data is accurate.
- Coordinate WhatsApp Communications: Draft and distribute weekly training schedules, day-of call reminders, and expectation posts to Beauty WhatsApp groups using established templates and messaging cadence.
- Support Blend Bar & On-Ship Training: Provide guidance and materials for on-ship trainers conducting Blend Bar activations and beauty training visits; review and act on End of Day reports submitted from the field.
- Evaluate Trainee Readiness & Performance: Track module completion, call attendance, video submission quality, and certification progress; flag gaps and recommend intervention for underperforming trainees.
- Uphold Sanitation & Compliance Standards: Ensure all training content reinforces shipboard sanitary sampling SOPs for powder, aqueous, brush, and tool hygiene protocols.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with the Talent Development team, fleet managers, and division leadership to align beauty training priorities with business needs and seasonal launches.
- Travel as Needed: Travel approximately once per month to support NYC-based training intensives, sail on cruise ships for 7-day onboard training visits, or conduct day visits on turnaround/embarkation days.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field preferred
- 2–5 years of experience in beauty training, retail training, learning & development, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of beauty categories including skincare, fragrance, and cosmetics; luxury or travel retail experience is a plus
- Proven experience facilitating virtual and/or in-person training sessions
- Experience developing training materials, presentations, and learning content
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and tracking training performance metrics
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and coach individuals to improve performance
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and digital communication tools
- Willingness and ability to travel as required, including shipboard visits
Salary Range:
$70,000 – $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
