Our client, a leader in commercial real estate, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Accountant to support billing, receivables, variance analysis, and month-end close activities in Santa Clara, CA. This is a full-time, onsite position operating Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. This position starts as a 4-month contract opportunity and pays $28.50-30 per hour based on experience. The Accounts Receivable Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions, compliance with GAAP, and high-quality reporting that supports both operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and/or process billing and invoicing; enter data into accounting systems and submit cash applications to vouchers/invoices.
• Research, analyze, and resolve accounts receivable discrepancies and issues.
• Analyze financial transaction records to determine accuracy and completeness of entries.
• Assist in preparing the Monthly Variance Report; analyze accounting variances and develop variance explanation reports.
• Prepare and/or review projections of accounting data to illustrate the impact of proposed changes on income and financial condition.
• Maintain, record, and reconcile billings and accounts receivable.
• Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles.
• Assist with month-end close activities by preparing journal entries, reconciling discrepancies, posting to the general ledger, and reviewing budget-to-actual variances.
• Read and interpret contracts, legal documents, and agreements as needed; record complex business transactions in the general ledger.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

• Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts, with the ability to assist in budget and forecast preparation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–3 years of professional-level accounting experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to produce ad hoc reports.
• Experience with financial management or real estate accounting systems.
• Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents; strong problem-solving abilities with experience evaluating multiple options in complex situations.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret instructions delivered in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines, make informed decisions, and work independently within established policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and understand the long-term impact of accounting decisions.
