Job Description:
Edgewood ISD is currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a High School Math Teacher and Assistant High School and Middle School Boys’ Basketball Coach. This position requires a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of the subject matter assigned, and the ability to inspire and motivate students. We are a school district with 1,000 students located just east of Dallas on Highway 80. Edgewood ISD is committed to building an athletic program of excellence with strong community support, and a well-supported and funded athletic program. We expect to participate in the 3A D2 playoffs every school year.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instruction & Planning: Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans using effective instructional strategies, technology, and accommodations to meet diverse student needs.
Assessment & Student Growth: Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor achievement, adjust instruction, and support individual learning styles, including IEP modifications.
Classroom Environment & Management: Create a safe, positive, and structured learning environment that supports students’ academic, physical, social, and emotional development, while managing behavior in accordance with district guidelines.
Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with colleagues, special education staff, parents, and community members to support instructional goals and maintain open, professional communication.
Professional Responsibilities: Participate in staff development, fulfill extracurricular and committee duties, maintain required documentation, and comply with district, state, and board policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to national and school curriculum standards.
Provide instruction and foster an environment that encourages students to participate in the learning process.
Evaluate student performance through assessments, providing feedback to students and parents.
Maintain classroom discipline and foster a positive learning environment.
Participate in school events and staff meetings.
As a coach, you will be responsible for training, mentoring, and guiding students in various sports activities.
Develop strategies to improve team performance, ensuring that all players understand the rules and strategies of the sport.
Certifications: Applicants must hold relevant teaching certifications.
