Qualifications:

GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-07 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is defined as: performing routine litigation support assignments such as assisting with organizing case information; preparing discovery productions, including scanning and coding documents and creating DVDs; assisting attorneys in preparing for court such as preparing exhibits; and preparing a variety of legal documents; assisting in the use of technology to organize digital evidence; and editing a variety of legal documents; such as information request, pleadings, correspondence and memos.

Education: One full year of graduate education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law, Information Technology, Computer Science) OR Completion of a full four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree and meet one of the following superior academic achievement provisions: (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for all completed undergraduate course work or for all courses completed in the last two full years of undergraduate work; (2) a GPA of 3.5 or higher for all courses in the major field of study, or those courses in a major completed in the last two full years of undergraduate work; (3) ranking in the upper one-third of a college, university, or major subdivision or (4) membership in a national scholastic honor society.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:

Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting an attorney with trial preparation, including making recommendations on how to proceed with trial presentations; utilizing office automation tools in order to create physical and digital trial presentations; working with investigators, agents, and legal support staff; handling a wide variety of evidence and discovery; and providing technical assistance to litigation teams by preparing and issuing litigation hold notices to include drafting summaries of claims.

Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law, Information Technology, Computer Science): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.); OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)


Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. Responsibilities:

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing substantive legal support to the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Typical work assignments will include:
  • Providing technical assistance to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to develop and facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and trial presentation.
  • Using various software applications to efficiently open cases, close cases, and organize, analyze, and present case materials for discovery.
  • Preparing computerized trial exhibits and presentations using hardware such as printers, plotters, audio-visual devices, among others.
  • Researching, analyzing, and summarizing relevant legal precedents for applicability to assigned cases as appropriate.
  • Preparing exhibits for legal proceedings involving a wide range of visual materials including charts, diagrams, photographs, and models.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
