Safety Manager
Industrial Manufacturing Facility | Full-Time
The Safety Manager leads and oversees all aspects of workplace health and safety within a large, continuous‑operation manufacturing environment. This role ensures regulatory compliance, reduces operational risk, and strengthens a proactive safety culture across a 24/7 industrial facility. The Safety Manager partners with site leadership, supervisors, and frontline employees to drive safe work practices and continuous improvement.
Operational Safety Leadership
- Participate in daily operational and leadership discussions to integrate safety into production activities
- Lead recurring workforce safety meetings with a focus on compliance, training, and risk awareness
- Maintain a strong on‑site presence, engaging regularly with employees across all shifts
- Manage incident reporting, tracking, and follow‑up using standardized safety management systems
- Prepare and present routine safety performance reports, including observations, corrective actions, and incident trends
- Provide safety leadership during scheduled maintenance outages, including audits, inspections, and hazard verifications
- Serve in rotating leadership coverage to support facility operations and gain comprehensive operational understanding
- Develop, implement, and continually improve site safety programs in alignment with regulatory and corporate standards
- Lead hazard identification activities including risk assessments, job safety analyses, and equipment safeguarding reviews
- Act as the site technical authority for safety compliance, applying applicable federal, state, and industry standards
- Oversee core safety programs such as energy control, machine safety, confined spaces, work at height, contractor safety, and mobile equipment safety
- Ensure high‑risk activities are managed through standardized controls and critical risk principles
- Coordinate industrial hygiene initiatives, ergonomics programs, and injury/illness prevention efforts
- Promote a culture of personal accountability, employee involvement, and shared responsibility for safety
- Facilitate employee participation through safety committees, observation programs, and field‑based coaching
- Design and deliver safety training to improve hazard recognition and decision‑making
- Lead incident investigations to identify root and system causes
- Develop, track, and verify corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence
- Share lessons learned across the organization to promote continuous learning
- Analyze leading and lagging safety indicators and report trends to leadership
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, response planning, and drills
- Identify and recommend equipment, process, and capital improvements to reduce safety risk
- Monitor regulatory updates, industry best practices, and emerging safety technologies
- Champion principles of human performance, learning‑based accountability, and just culture
Required
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, engineering, or a related technical field
- 5 years of progressive safety leadership experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial operations
- Professional safety certification (CSP, ASP, or equivalent) strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of occupational safety regulations and consensus standards
- Proven ability to lead safety programs in a continuous, multi‑shift operating environment
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills across all organizational levels
- Demonstrated experience using metrics, audits, and data to drive safety performance
- Background in high‑hazard or process‑driven industrial environments
- Experience managing contractor safety and outage‑related risk
- Strong technical writing, presentation, and training development capabilities

Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
