Our client, a global leader in the ingredients manufacturing space, is seeking a Food Scientist to join the R&D team. This role supports hands-on research and development focused on coffee extracts and beverage-related ingredients in a fast-paced innovation environment. The position is heavily experimental, with significant exposure to pilot plant work and scale-up. Title and level may vary based on experience between Scientist and Sr. Scientist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct bench- and pilot-scale R&D on coffee extraction, roasting, and related processing technologies
- Design and execute experiments to optimize flavor, functionality, and performance
- Support scale-up activities and collaborate with manufacturing partners
- Lead or support technical projects from concept through pilot validation
- Operate and troubleshoot pilot plant and production-representative equipment
- Contribute to innovation projects involving coffee alternatives and botanical extracts
- Perform sensory evaluation and technical assessments of prototypes
- Document results and communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders
- Support customer-facing technical projects as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial and technical teams to support product development and technical presentations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science or a related technical field
- 3-5 years of hands-on R&D experience in coffee processing technologies such as roasting, extraction, or drying
- Hands-on experience with pilot plant scale-up and operations
- Strong experimental and problem-solving skills in a lab-to-plant environment
- Comfort with frequent coffee tasting and sensory work
Salary : $70,000 - $120,000
