Job Summary
The Site Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities on the jobsite. This role oversees scheduling, subcontractor coordination, safety enforcement, quality control, and field execution to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with contract documents. The Site Superintendent serves as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and project team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the overall project schedule and manage look-ahead schedules in coordination with the Project Manager
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractor activities to maintain efficient workflow on-site
- Enforce subcontractor safety programs and ensure proper accident reporting and documentation
- Coordinate daily with clients and on-site personnel as required
- Review architect reports and address required action items; coordinate with the Project Manager as needed
- Maintain and manage deficiency logs as applicable
- Coordinate with building inspectors and required third-party inspection agencies
- Conduct daily morning coordination meetings with subcontractors to review schedule expectations for the day and week
- Perform field quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews, including:
- Verifying all materials on-site comply with approved submittals and project documentation
- Walking the project to ensure materials are protected and installed correctly
- Assist with RFIs by documenting field issues for review with the Project Manager
- Ensure subcontractors comply with all issued submittals and RFIs
- Maintain up-to-date submittal and RFI logs on-site or in company vehicle for each project
- Assist with the review of subcontractor payment applications in coordination with the Project Manager
- Review coordination drawings and ensure proper execution in the field
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings
- Prepare and submit daily reports using Raken
- Ensure client-occupied areas are clean, secure, and safe at the end of each workday
- Execute punch list activities with subcontractors and obtain sign-offs from the client and/or architect
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management preferred)
- 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent or similar field leadership role
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and safety practices
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing on-site schedules
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency with field reporting and construction management software
Preferred Skills
- Experience with commercial construction projects
- Familiarity with Raken, Procore, or similar construction management platforms
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project management teams and subcontractors
Physical & Work Requirements
- Full-time, on-site role in active construction environments
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and navigate job sites for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- May require flexible hours based on project schedule and site needs
