Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in planning, executing, and closing out construction projects. This role assists with project documentation, communication, cost tracking, subcontractor coordination, and compliance to help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with contract requirements. The Assistant Project Manager works closely with field staff, subcontractors, vendors, and the project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with planning, execution, and closeout of construction projects
- Support communication between the Project Manager, Site Superintendents, clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- Document project meetings and manage team correspondence
- Manage project documentation, digital files, and shared platforms (e.g., Dropbox)
- Assist with estimating, job cost tracking, and invoice preparation
- Support field staff with documentation, drawings, safety materials, and other project needs
- Compile and organize contract documents for Project Manager review
- Generate subcontractor change orders
- Assist with subcontractor billings and prepare detailed backup documentation
- Support the Project Manager with ASIs, RFPs, and drawing revisions, including pricing assistance
- Assist with project submittals and RFIs and ensure subcontractors receive required documentation
- Help manage project compliance, ensuring subcontractors and vendors meet contract, insurance, and workers’ compensation requirements
- Assist with maintaining site facilities and supporting Site Superintendent needs
- Update and maintain punch lists and warranty logs
- Assist in assembling and submitting closeout documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management preferred)
- 2–4 years of experience in construction project coordination, administration, or a related role
- Basic understanding of construction processes, documentation, and project workflows
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software
Preferred Skills
- Experience working on commercial construction projects
- Familiarity with project management and document control platforms (e.g., Dropbox)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, field staff, and subcontractors
Physical & Work Requirements
- Combination of office and jobsite environment
- Ability to attend jobsite meetings and perform site visits as needed
- May require flexible hours based on project demands
