DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, directs, and oversees the work of supervisory and technical staff to ensure adequate staffing levels and effective response to fluctuating workloads.
- Plans, assigns, reviews, and evaluates work performance of supervisory and technical personnel.
- Provides technical leadership and guidance to management in the assessment, selection, and implementation of new technologies.
- Develops, implements, and maintains standards and guidelines for the acquisition, installation, and use of computer systems, applications, local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), and telecommunications systems.
- Develops system and program specifications; sets priorities for assignments and coordinates progress of system development and program coding.
- Leads major systems development projects and manages ongoing maintenance of related systems.
- Designs major system components including forms, reports, screen formats, databases, and data files.
- Consults with system users to identify problems and develop specifications for system modifications; oversees implementation of approved changes.
- Provides technical consultation regarding computer systems, networking equipment, software, peripherals, servers, and wireless communications.
- Assists users in acquiring appropriate computer systems and related technology.
- Plans and implements system testing strategies, conditions, and schedules.
- Coordinates or performs network design, installation, modification, maintenance, monitoring, optimization, and problem resolution with technical staff.
- Evaluates, studies, and implements safeguards and security controls for computer systems.
- Reviews technical journals and professional literature to remain current with emerging technologies.
- Serves as a technical advisor and resource in areas such as database development and management, system software, programming languages, and data communications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field; and Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in systems and programming, including two (2) years of systems development experience; and Two (2) years of responsible supervisory experience; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
