Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide fiscal oversight, accountability, and compliance for large-scale capital improvement projects funded by multiple sources (Arizona State Funds, Sihasin Funds, NM State Capital Outlay, Tribal Infrastructure Funds, Utah State Funds, General Funds).
- Apply advanced accounting principles and independent professional judgment to support executive decision-making, project execution, and long-term financial planning.
- Prepare and analyze complex accounting reports and financial statements, including cost analyses, forecasts, and projections.
- Review and interpret financial data from the Navajo Nation's general ledger system.
- Manage and track contract agreements, ensuring timely processing of invoices, reimbursements, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee multiple funding sources with distinct compliance and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain automated accounting systems for monitoring project and departmental finances.
- Ensure all financial transactions and reports meet regulatory requirements and deadlines.
- Support planning, design, construction, and completion of capital projects by maintaining accurate financial records and transparency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field; and 2 years of progressively responsible accounting experience involving financial policy analysis and information systems

- Ability to work independently with strong professional judgment and accuracy
- Proficiency in modern accounting technologies and financial management systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills for financial reporting and presentations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
- Experience with financial and project management software
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
- Fluency in Navajo and English is a condition of employment
