Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage Geographic Information System (GIS) databases.
- Design and analyze reports, tables, and computerized forms.
- Collect, verify, and enter GIS data from field surveys and other sources.
- Design, digitize, and plot maps and spatial data products.
- Develop and manage automated map libraries, data dictionaries, aerial imagery, and digitized maps.
- Document and implement GIS database administration procedures.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain GIS software and related applications.
- Recommend and manage acquisition of computer hardware and software.
- Set up, configure, and maintain computer hardware systems, including GIS in a networked environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; and Two (2) years of GIS operations or computer-aided design (CAD) experience; or Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Special Requirements
- Possess a Valid state driver's license
- Favorable background investigation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of GIS software installation, maintenance, and upgrades
- Knowledge of federal, state, and Navajo Nation laws and regulations related to computing and GIS utilities
- Knowledge of advanced computer programming and systems analysis
- Familiarity with technical manuals, journals, and documentation
- Skill in planning and implementing automated computer systems
- Skill in systems analysis, programming, and software customization
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve computer systems and network issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
