Under the direction of the Program Supervisor II, performs daily custodial services at regional Department of Child Care & Development childcare center(s) and casework offices to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for children, staff, and visitors.

Under the direction of the Program Supervisor II, performs daily custodial services at regional Department of Child Care & Development childcare center(s) and casework offices to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for children, staff, and visitors.
- Cleans and sanitizes common areas including lobbies, offices, restrooms, kitchens, conference rooms, breakrooms, isolation rooms, hallways, and cafeteria/multipurpose rooms.
- Performs routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, carpet shampooing, floor waxing and buffing.
- Disinfects trash receptacles, walls, switches, door handles, handrails, restroom fixtures, sinks, drinking fountains, dining tables and chairs, furniture, and equipment.
- Cleans windows and maintains cleanliness of interior and exterior surfaces.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
- Maintains exterior grounds by removing trash, debris, snow, and weeds as necessary.
- Maintains inventory of custodial supplies and equipment to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Recommends additional building services to the Program Supervisor and DCCD Facilities & Maintenance Section, including painting, repairs, renovations, and equipment replacement.
- Assists in securing DCCD buildings, storage areas, and/or vehicles as required.
- Attends staff meetings and required trainings.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Favorable background investigation.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Possess reliable personal transportation and valid vehicle insurance.
- Must pass a physical examination.
Knowledge of:
- Custodial cleaning methods, practices, and procedures.
- Occupational safety and health regulations and guidelines.
- Preventive maintenance and basic repair of custodial equipment.
- Environmental protection regulations and guidelines.
- Proper use and handling of custodial equipment and tools.
- Safely cleaning and disinfecting buildings and facilities.
- Applying health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Loading, storing, transporting, maintaining, and securing custodial supplies and equipment.
- Following verbal and written instructions.
- Safely handling cleaning materials, chemicals, and supplies.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Stand, walk, stoop, and sit for extended periods.
- Climb ladders and step stools safely.
- Lift and carry equipment, materials, and supplies weighing up to 80 pounds.
Within ninety (90) days of hire, the incumbent must:
- Complete the Navajo Nation Defensive Driving Course and obtain a Navajo Nation Vehicle Operator’s Permit.
- Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification;
- Complete 10-hour Asbestos Training, 10-hour OSHA General Industry Training, and Fire Extinguisher Training.
