We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery used in underground and overhead electrical construction projects. This position supports crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical infrastructure by performing excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling activities in compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery used in underground and overhead electrical construction projects. This position supports crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical infrastructure by performing excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling activities in compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, and trenchers to support electrical construction projects.
- Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to ensure accurate excavation and grading.
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections to maintain equipment safety and functionality.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, electricians, and crew members to coordinate efficient workflows.
- Ensure all equipment operations comply with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments to promote a safe work environment.
- Assist with manual labor or general construction tasks when equipment is not in use.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision or project management.
Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of experience operating various types of heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, trenchers, etc.).
- OSHA 10 (or higher) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, utility maps, and grade stakes.
- Ability to read and follow site plans, utility markings, and verbal/written instructions.
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and best practices in construction.
- Proficiency in operating multiple types of heavy equipment.
