We are seeking an Estimator I to join our team. The Estimator I plays a critical role in the pre-construction phase by reviewing project plans, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring that bids align with project requirements. We are seeking an Estimator I to join our team. The Estimator I plays a critical role in the pre-construction phase by reviewing project plans, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring that bids align with project requirements. This role requires expertise in electrical construction, proficiency in estimating software, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine scope and project requirements.
- Prepares detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses using estimating software and industry standards.
- Works collaboratively with vendors, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and refine project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Participates in bid presentations and negotiations with clients to secure electrical construction contracts.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with clients through regular communication and follow-up.
- Manages client expectations by setting clear timelines, deliverables, and communication protocols.
- Monitors changes in project scope and revises estimates as necessary to ensure accuracy.
- Research industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to provide up-to-date and competitive estimates.
- Ensures compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards in all project estimates.
- Maintains detailed documentation of all estimates, bid proposals, and project cost breakdowns for record-keeping and future reference.
- Collaborates with internal teams to improve estimating processes and enhance efficiency.
Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Accubid, McCormick, or similar estimating software.
- Experience with electrical construction cost analysis and project budgeting.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards applicable to construction projects.
- Skill in analyzing complex project data and translating it into accurate cost estimates.
- Skill in bid preparation, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Skill in written and verbal communication to effectively present information to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Light work environment. General office settings with limited exposure to light physical and occasionally uncomfortable environmental conditions. Work may require lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional exposure to light, noise, dust, time pressure, etc.
