Job Title: Assembly Technician
Department: Production
Organizational Relationship: Reports directly to the Area Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time Onsite
Shift: 1st Shift Monday – Friday (7a-3:30p) Overtime may be required based on customer needs and deadlines. (Occasional weekends)
Job Description: Performs a variety of assembly and sub-assembly as required by the customer and/or for production. The following are the duties and responsibilities of the Assembler – either preformed directly and/or via subordinates:
- Production preparation by studying assembly instructions, blueprints, drawings and parts lists as well as gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and other required materials
- Position components and subassemblies using templates and/or specifications –assembles components by examining connections for conformity
- Operate light hand power tools not limited to sanders, drills, grinders, hoists and additional specialty tools as required for production
- Check, inspect and troubleshoot, using a knowledge of fiberglass as well as metals, for conformity and repair discrepancies if detected
- Maintains inventory levels, anticipating needs and submits procurement requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors and/or management
- Understand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior marine industry machining is a plus
- Basic mathematical skills
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English
Additional Skills, Physical Requirements, and Competencies:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include dust masks, gloves, safety glasses
- Can work in a hot and humid non-climate-controlled environment
- Ability to walk up and down a flight of stairs numerous times a day
- Ability to work outside
- Ability to work in a fast paced, noisy environment
- Knowing chemicals, their dangers, safety procedures, mixing procedures and time limits
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Follow safety and health standards – use of protective equipment as required
- Ability to work 8 hour day shifts (sitting, standing, bending and reaching) and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.
