Job Description
Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Department: Maintenance
Organizational Relationship: Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time, On-site
Shift: Day Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday – Friday. Overtime may be required based on customer needs and deadlines. (Occasional weekends)
Job Summary: Responsible for security, maintenance and service of work facilities to ensure that they meet the needs of the organization and its employees. The following are the duties and responsibilities of the – either preformed directly and/ or via subordinates:
- Perform physical maintenance and operations of buildings, grounds, facilities and building systems
- Oversee and conduct periodic inspections to identify necessary repairs
- Ensure building, grounds, facilities and building systems are compliant with various agency regulations
- Coordinate and supervision of contractors and external providers on assigned projects
- Assist in essential services, i.e., security, maintenance, cleaning, waste disposal, recycling and any safety related issues
- Assist in ensuring buildings meet the needs of the people working in them, including but not limited to security, cleaning, parking, and landscaping
- Respond to facility and equipment alerts and/or system failures
- Engage outside vendors when necessary for repairs and/or services under the direction of the Maintenance Manager
- Complete planned and preventative maintenance in a timely manner
- As required operate hand and power tools
- Participating in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques
- Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with project leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the production team and the entire company
- Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) guidelines
- Maintain safety regulation during installations
- Oversee disposal of substances according to environmental guidelines
- Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are clearly understood and met
- Report any acts or processes which are unsafe or do not comply with OHSA guidelines
- Meeting production schedules
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required education and experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent, 2 - 5 years of experience with Industrial facilities maintenance and safety.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English
- Must have knowledge of commercial pneumatic systems
- Electrical experience including knowledge of 3 phase electric systems and 110/220/480 voltage ratings is required
- Commercial plumbing experience is a plus
- Experience with composite bonding equipment commonly used in the boating industry is a plus – chopper guns, spray guns
- Basic mathematical skills
Additional Skills, Physical Requirements, and Competencies:
- Knowledge of chemicals, their dangers, safety procedures, mixing procedures and time limits
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include dust masks, gloves, safety glasses
- Can work in a hot and humid non-climate-controlled environment
- Ability to work outside
- Follow safety and health standards – use of protective equipment as required
- Ability to work 8 hour day shifts (sitting, standing, bending and reaching) and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Understand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
