Role Summary
The QAQC Inspector supports the implementation of the project Quality Assurance and Quality Control program by performing field inspections, documenting observations, monitoring completed work, and helping ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, project standards, and quality requirements.
Working closely with the QAQC Manager, Superintendents, Project Management team, subcontractors, commissioning personnel, and other project stakeholders, the QAQC Inspector helps identify deficiencies early, monitor corrective actions, and maintain accurate quality documentation throughout construction and project turnover.
Key Responsibilities
Field Inspections
- Perform routine inspections of construction activities and completed work
- Verify work against approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and applicable quality standards
- Document inspection results, observations, and deficiencies
- Support inspection and test plans, hold points, and witness points as required
- Coordinate inspections with subcontractors and project teams
Quality Documentation
- Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, photographs, reports, and supporting documentation
- Assist with tracking inspection status and outstanding quality items
- Ensure quality records are complete, organized, and available for project turnover
- Support maintenance of QAQC logs and trackers
- Assist with compilation of turnover and quality documentation
Deficiency & NCR Support
- Identify non-conforming or deficient work and communicate findings to appropriate project personnel
- Assist with documenting Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required
- Track corrective actions and verify completion
- Conduct follow-up inspections to confirm deficiencies have been resolved
- Escalate recurring or significant quality concerns to the QAQC Manager
Pre-Punch & Turnover
- Perform pre-punch inspections before formal turnover or commissioning activities
- Assist with deficiency and punch-list tracking
- Verify completion of corrective work
- Support system and area readiness reviews
- Coordinate quality documentation required for turnover packages
Subcontractor Coordination
- Work with subcontractors to communicate quality expectations and inspection requirements
- Coordinate inspection timing to avoid unnecessary disruption to field activities
- Review subcontractor inspection documentation where required
- Help ensure required inspections are completed before work becomes inaccessible or covered
- Participate in quality meetings and field coordination discussions
Commissioning & Project Coordination
- Coordinate with Commissioning and MEP teams regarding inspection and turnover readiness
- Support documentation required for commissioning activities
- Assist with quality verification during installation, startup, testing, and closeout phases
- Communicate outstanding quality issues that could affect commissioning or turnover
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma, certificate, degree, or equivalent experience in Construction, Engineering Technology, Quality Management, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related technical discipline
- Previous construction inspection, QAQC, field supervision, commissioning, or trade experience
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify workmanship or compliance issues
- Experience maintaining inspection and quality-control documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, field teams, project management, and commissioning personnel
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple inspections and outstanding items
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction-management software is an asset
- Relevant inspection or quality certifications are considered an asset
- Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, commercial, industrial, electrical, or mechanical construction is strongly preferred
