Role Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing site logistics to support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted construction operations.
Working closely with the Construction Manager, Lead Superintendent, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement teams, and site personnel, the Logistics Manager coordinates deliveries, laydown areas, material movement, site access, traffic flow, security interfaces, temporary facilities, and other logistical activities required to keep the project operating efficiently.
The role is particularly important on a large-scale, mission-critical data center project where multiple trades, equipment deliveries, work areas, and construction activities must be carefully coordinated.
Key Responsibilities
Site Logistics Planning
- Develop and maintain the project site logistics plan
- Coordinate site access, traffic flow, loading/unloading areas, material staging, and laydown requirements
- Plan logistical requirements around changing construction phases and site conditions
- Coordinate temporary roads, access routes, gates, fencing, storage areas, and site facilities as required
- Identify potential logistics conflicts and develop solutions before they affect construction activities
Deliveries & Material Movement
- Coordinate delivery schedules with subcontractors, suppliers, procurement teams, and site supervision
- Manage delivery bookings and site receiving requirements
- Coordinate unloading, staging, storage, and movement of materials and equipment
- Help prevent congestion, double-handling, and disruption to active work areas
- Track major deliveries and communicate upcoming logistical requirements to relevant stakeholders
Site Access & Security Coordination
- Coordinate site access requirements for workers, subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries
- Support site security and access-control processes
- Maintain appropriate access and logistics records
- Coordinate with project leadership regarding restricted areas, temporary access changes, and site-control requirements
- Help ensure emergency and critical access routes remain clear
Trade & Field Coordination
- Work closely with Superintendents and subcontractors to understand upcoming logistical needs
- Coordinate shared access routes, cranes, hoists, loading zones, staging areas, and temporary facilities
- Support work sequencing by ensuring areas and access routes are available when required
- Participate in daily and weekly site coordination meetings
- Resolve day-to-day logistical conflicts between trades and work areas
Planning & Communication
- Coordinate upcoming logistics requirements with the Site Planner and project schedule
- Provide advance notice of major deliveries or activities that may affect site operations
- Maintain logistics schedules, delivery calendars, and related trackers
- Communicate changes in site logistics clearly to affected teams
- Escalate significant logistical risks or constraints to project leadership
Site Standards & Safety Support
- Work with project safety personnel to ensure logistical activities are performed safely
- Support safe pedestrian and vehicle movement throughout the site
- Help maintain clean and organized logistics and laydown areas
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with established site logistics requirements
- Support emergency access and site-control planning
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Logistics, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience
- Previous experience managing logistics on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction site operations and trade coordination
- Experience coordinating deliveries, material staging, site access, and laydown areas
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and competing site requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, active construction environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tracking tools
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction-management software is an asset
- Experience on data center or mission-critical construction projects is considered a strong asset
