POSITION OVERVIEW:
- TITLE: Hourly Educational Interpreter - Haitian Creole
- STATUS/FLSA: Part-Time / Non-Exempt
- PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: Hourly
- LOCATION: As Assigned
- DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time ( ); Part-time ( )
- SUPERVISOR: Executive Director of Special Education Services
- TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hours determined based on needs of student, school, and Offices of Special Education Services; $20/hr.
- EVALUATION: Performance evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy.
JOB GOAL:
Provide language support for Haitian Creole students, families, and staff. This position facilitates effective communication during meetings, conferences, assessments, and school events to support equitable access to district programs and services.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High proficiency in both Haitian Creole and English (oral and written).

Prior experience in interpretation or translation preferred, especially in educational settings.

Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and impartially.

Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Passing score on EIPA.

Meets the Highly qualified status based on the ESEA requirements.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide accurate real-time interpretation between Haitian Creole and English for students, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Participates in educational team meetings, including the development and review of progress on the Individualized Education Program IEP, providing insight on the success of communication strategies.
- Provides interpreting for extracurricular activities and parent meetings when necessary/appropriate.
- Works with small groups or individuals to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assists individual students.
- Maintains confidentiality concerning students and students’ records and data.
- Participates in professional development.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with diverse populations.
- Performs other duties as directed.
