CLARKSTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TK-8 TEACHER POOL 

 

 

Job Title:  Initially, this position will be for a TK-8 Rover Teacher, with potential for classroom placement

Reports to:   Building Principal

Bargaining Group:  Clarkston Educ Assoc (CEA)                       

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

                           

Terms of Employment:  1.0 FTE, 7.5 Hours per Day - This is a full-time teaching position that will receive all benefits and pay per Bargaining Agreement / Salary Placement (currently $58,735-$106,497 base pay).

Job Description: 

Elementary/Middle School Teacher Pool- The individual hired into this position will initially serve as a rover teacher, with the potential for classroom placement within one of our elementary or middle schools.

 

          

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

  • Valid Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate TK-8 endorsement
  • Successful Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
  • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with and teach students and staff
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, IEPs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, governmental regulations and professional journals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Experience with Investigations, small group reading instruction that focuses on student needs
  • Evidence of providing for student individual learning styles
  • Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles-basic levels to extensions beyond basics
  • Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues
  • Letters of reference verifying experience and/or documented training

Experience:

  • Evidence of successful elementary teaching experience within the last five years is desired
  • Evidence of training or experience in curriculum development

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Essential Duties:

  • Teaches District-approved curriculum
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each pupil
  • Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
  • Work proactively with all students through the establishment of clear expectations, the use of negotiation and compromise, and the maintenance of regular parent-staff communication regarding progress and behavior
  • Work positively and constructively in a changing school environment that focuses on improving student learning
  • Participate in the development of curriculum and implementation into instruction
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions that support the department’s vision
  • Work in a context with multicultural and at-risk students
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, motivating reluctant students. Create an atmosphere where cultural diversity is a strength
  • Be a “team” player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others
  • Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education
  • Be committed to success for all children
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions that support building programs
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for individual learning styles (Basic level and extensions beyond basic)
  • Demonstrated effective communication techniques

Other Duties:

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities
  • Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and displays of student work
  • Performs other duties as assigned by principal or appropriate administrator

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May include instructional assistants, volunteers, tutors

Personal computer, printer, overhead, document camera, copier, fax, A/V equipment

Physical:

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
