The ESOL Lead Teacher is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school and office environment, overseen by Director of Federal Programs, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Level 4 certificate or higher in assigned teaching field |

Essential Functions:

Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance |
|
Provide content development |
|
Coordinate and verifies state and federal funding counts |
|
Coordinate eligibility process for all students |
|
Monitors due process procedures / timelines for all EL students |
|
Serves as a liaison between the ESOL education and the regular education staff within the school district |
|
Support ESOL teachers with encouragement |
|
Coordinate end of year procedures for ESOL teachers |
|
Demonstrate effective teaching strategies and intervention for ESOL students |
|
Coordinates standardized testing and assessments |
|
Provide direct support for ESOL teachers |
|
Mentor teachers |
|
Helps ESOL teachers to Integrate the use of technology and multi-media in the classroom |
|
Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position |
|
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner |
|
Provide training to general teachers on best practices for the EL student |
|
Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities |
|
Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures |
|
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies |
|
Serves as a contact person for ESOL |
|
Demonstrates the ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situations |
|
Coordinate scheduling and caseloads for ESOL teachers |
|
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee |
