The Role

Distinct Engineering Solutions, Inc. has a full-time opening for a Civil Engineer at our North Brunswick, NJ office to support active infrastructure and construction projects across New York City. This is a role for a versatile civil engineer who wants to do more than one thing — spend real time on project sites alongside our field teams while also helping coordinate, recruit, and support the technical staff who power our projects. We welcome recent graduates eager to build hands-on experience across the field and the office.

You'll split your time between our office and project field sites, gaining direct exposure to construction operations, environmental monitoring, and the day-to-day coordination that keeps complex projects moving. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented engineer who is eager to learn every side of the business and grow with us.

What You'll Do

• Travel to project sites in New York City to support field engineers, inspectors, and monitoring teams.
• Assist senior staff with field observation, documentation, and reporting of site activities.
• Support recruiting and onboarding of technical and field roles — you understand what the work requires and what good looks like.
• Help track and maintain critical certifications and credentials (OSHA, EIT/PE, HAZWOPER) and flag upcoming renewals.
• Coordinate between field teams, project managers, and the office to keep tasks and paperwork moving.
• Prepare and organize project documentation, records, and field data under the guidance of senior staff.

Certifications & Credentials

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification — preferred.
• Willingness to complete OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and other project-required certifications after joining — required.
• Ability to get fit tested and wear a respirator on project sites (when required).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 0–3 years of experience; recent graduates and internship experience welcome.
• Interest in construction site operations, environmental monitoring, and the credentials that define our workforce (OSHA, EIT/PE). (Don't worry if you don't know them all — we'll help you learn.)
• Strong attention to detail with solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• A valid driver's license and a vehicle for travel to project sites.
• Willingness to work in both office and field settings, including overtime on weekdays or weekends depending on project needs.
