Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in San Francisco, California or Washington, D.C.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 3 years of patent litigation experience to join a nationally recognized Intellectual Property practice. The team represents leading technology companies in complex, high-stakes patent disputes involving cutting-edge technologies, providing associates with significant client contact, strategic responsibility, and hands-on litigation experience.
Responsibilities

Represent clients in complex patent litigation matters in federal courts.

Manage all phases of patent litigation, including infringement and invalidity contentions, claim construction (Markman) proceedings, fact discovery, expert discovery, and trial preparation.

Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, claim construction filings, and other substantive litigation documents.

Conduct and defend fact and expert witness depositions.

Collaborate directly with engineers, developers, technical experts, and in-house counsel to develop litigation strategies.

Analyze complex technologies and intellectual property issues across a variety of industries.

Work closely with partners and clients while managing sophisticated litigation workstreams.

Support trial preparation and other strategic aspects of high-profile patent disputes.
Qualifications

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Active membership in a U.S. state bar.

3 years of patent litigation experience.

Experience managing key aspects of patent litigation, including claim construction (Markman), discovery, and case management.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or another technology-related discipline, or equivalent technical experience.

Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, developers, technical experts, and sophisticated technology clients.

Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and advocacy skills.

Outstanding academic credentials and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $260,000-$390,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
