Financial Institutions Associate

Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a Financial Institutions Associate with 3–6 years of post-JD experience to join its sophisticated Financial Institutions practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience advising banks, fintechs, payment platforms/processors, or cryptocurrency companies on regulatory and compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise financial institutions on federal banking laws and regulations.
• Counsel clients on consumer financial protection laws, including Reg E, Reg Z, Reg XX, and Reg B.
• Advise on anti-money laundering (AML) requirements and economic sanctions.
• Counsel clients regarding regulations and guidance administered by OFAC and FinCEN.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, supervisory matters, transactions, and enforcement issues.
• Research complex regulatory matters and provide practical, strategic advice.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of post-JD experience in financial services regulatory law.
• Experience at a bank regulatory agency, law firm, in-house legal department, or similar environment advising financial institutions.
• Knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
  • Federal banking laws and regulations.
  • Consumer financial protection laws.
  • AML and economic sanctions.
• Experience with banks, fintechs, payment companies, or cryptocurrency businesses is a plus.
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission and membership in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative environment.
