Direct Counsel is seeking a Liquor & Cannabis Associate to join a nationally recognized law firm with a collegial, collaborative culture and a commitment to public service and DEI. This opportunity sits within the firm’s Commercial, IP & Technology group and offers hands-on experience working with sophisticated business clients on high-impact transactions and regulatory matters.
Responsibilities:

Advise clients on regulatory compliance and licensing for liquor and cannabis matters

Draft and negotiate commercial agreements

Conduct trade practice research and application review

Collaborate with attorneys across five offices on complex, multi-jurisdictional issues

Contribute to the firm’s DEI and pro bono initiatives with billable credit
Qualifications:

JD from an ABA-accredited law school; licensed to practice law

1 to 4 years of experience in commercial transactions and/or regulatory law

Prior exposure to or strong interest in liquor and cannabis law

Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills

Client-service mindset with an eagerness to work on a diverse, inclusive team
