Complex Litigation & Advisement Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Complex Litigation & Advisement Associate to join the nationally recognized Complex Litigation & Advisement Practice Group of a premier global law firm. This is an exciting opportunity for a litigation associate with sophisticated consumer class action and complex commercial litigation experience to work on high-stakes disputes for leading companies across industries including consumer products, technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

The practice represents both established global brands and emerging companies in litigation matters that carry significant reputational, regulatory, and financial exposure.

Responsibilities

• Defend clients in complex consumer class action litigation involving:
  • False advertising claims
  • Product defect allegations
  • Breach of warranty claims
  • Consumer protection statutes
• Handle matters involving California Unfair Competition Law and related state consumer protection laws
• Draft and argue:
  • Class certification briefs
  • Summary judgment motions
  • Pleadings and dispositive motions
  • Discovery responses and correspondence
• Conduct:
  • Depositions
  • Expert witness interviews
  • Oral arguments
  • Case investigations and factual analysis
• Manage complex e-discovery and document review processes
• Collaborate with clients, experts, and multidisciplinary litigation teams on sophisticated disputes
• Assist in developing litigation strategy for high-profile matters

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• 3–5 years of complex litigation experience
• Significant experience defending consumer class actions required
• Experience with:
  • False advertising litigation
  • Consumer protection claims
  • California Unfair Competition Law
  • Class certification and summary judgment briefing
• Strong drafting, analytical, oral advocacy, and case management skills
• Experience managing e-discovery in complex litigation matters
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong client service skills
• Active bar membership in California, New York, or Washington

• Salary range: $260,000 – $365,000, depending on experience and qualifications
